Caring of cocktail jewellery

Storing:

Cocktail Jewellery pieces are made from semi-precious stones and silver. The components are real stones, not plastic imitations and so some are quite delicate due to their natural properties. Items should be stored in separate sections of a jewellery box or individually wrapped up in velvet, paper or silk and stored out of direct light.

Silver clasps:

The silver clasps used in Cocktail Jewellery are 92.5% silver. Over time, silver will naturally tarnish and will need to be cleaned by polishing with a silver cloth. Tarnish is caused by a reaction between the silver, oxygen and sulphur. However, it can also be caused by hair spray, lotions or other personal care products if they come in contact with your jewellery. We advise that you apply hairspray and perfumes before putting on your jewellery.

Earrings and Rings:

The silver in our rings and earring hooks can be cleaned should they tarnish over time by polishing with a silver cloth.

Freshwater Pearls:

The pearl components found in many of our bridal pieces are genuine freshwater pearls and therefore a natural material. They are cultured and grown in pearl farms as opposed to being fished from their natural sea environment. A gentle rub between your finger-tips with a slightly damp cloth should suffice if cleaning is needed.

Hair Jewellery:

The hair jewellery in the Cocktail Jewellery Bridal range is made with a silver plated wire. This wire is prone to natural tarnishing over time and can be rubbed with a silver polishing cloth to restore the wire back to its silver shine. The wires are also bendable so if the clip appears misshapen over time, the wires can be moved and bent until the design again looks pleasing to the eye.

General Advice:

Please follow the recommendations below so that you can wear your Cocktail Jewellery for a longer time and keep them looking as good as the day you bought them!
Always remove your jewellery when engaging in activities that risk impact or exposure to chemicals (e.g. sports or housework).
The nylon thread we use in our necklace range is a strong, robust material. However, it should still be treated with care as it can be subject to wear and tear over time. Have a jeweller restring your pearl or stone necklaces every two years (or annually if you wear them frequently).
Always check for loose gems/stones and clasps before wearing your jewellery.
We hope you enjoy wearing your Cocktail Jewellery as much as we have enjoyed designing the collection.
